Materials: H (5 mm crochet hook), medium worsted weight yarn, elastic band
Pattern Notes: this scrunchie is made by crocheting a short tube in the round and then placing the elastic band around the middle of the tube
Foundation row: Chain 100, slip stitch for 1st chain to form a ring
Row 1. HDC in each chain around, slip stitch into top of 1st HDC to join (100 HDC). Work should be approximately 30 inches long/ 15 inches for half of tube
Row 2 – 8. HDC in each stitch around, join with a slip stitch into top of 1st HDC. After row 8 work should be approximately 3 inches tall
Put crochet tube through elastic so that elastic band is around the middle of the tube.
Fold bottom of tube up to meet top of tube, trapping elastic band in between the sides of tube.
Row 9. Use working yarn to single crochet along the top through both sides of the tube all the way around elastic. Cut yarn. Tie tails together and use crochet hook to pull tails inside the scrunchie to hide them.
